While Reilly Chunn, the owner of The Velvet Cellar in Denver, hasn’t had the chance to develop Colorado favorites of his own, he listens to and values those of his customers.

For this week’s entry, Chunn shared three popular menu items at The Velvet Cellar as well as some information on his new business: Magnolia Hall Event Venue and Brickfire BBQ & Seafood.

1.  Korean Lollipops

Chunn said the Korean Lollipops are a customer favorite; while The Velvet Cellar’s menu rotates seasonally, this item sticks around due to its popularity.

According to The Velvet Cellar’s menu, the Korean Lollipops are six drumsticks with clean bone handles; they are brined, smoked and covered in a Korean-styled sauce with a kimchi slaw.

“We have some community favorites that have stuck around like our Korean Lollipops. Everyone has major enthusiasm around those!”

2.  Charcuterie boards

Chunn said customers speak highly of the restaurant’s charcuterie board, which their menu said features five kinds of cheese, four types of meat and rotating seasonal additions. Customers can purchase a small board for $35 or a large board for $60.

“At Velvet, we’ve been frequently told that our charcuterie board is the best value of any restaurant in town.”

3.  Happy Hour Menu

Happy Hour at The Velvet Cellar happens Tuesday through Friday every week from 4 to 6 p.m. Chunn said that the specials offered have been popular among customers.

“Our Happy Hour menu has also been getting some great attention too - we offer a variety of soft tacos for $3 and double patty sliders for $4.”

The Velvet Cellar’s happy hour menu features five slider options, one of which changes every week, and four taco options. More information about each option is available on the menu.

Mini Spotlight: Magnolia Hall Event Venue and Brickfire BBQ & Seafood

Chunn recently started a new venture called Magnolia Hall Event Venue, which is also home to Brickfire BBQ & Seafood.

“I also own a brand-new event venue with in-house BBQ catering that is open for dine-in on weekends– Magnolia Hall Event Venue and Brickfire BBQ & Seafood.”

Brickfire BBQ & Seafood sells barbeque plates and sides as well as seafood boils. Their full menu is available to view here. According to their Instagram page, they are open 4-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sundays, or until they run out of food.

The venue itself has its own catering menu that is tailored to each client’s needs. Chunn said Magnolia Hall prioritizes serving nonprofits.

“We are focusing on 501c3 nonprofits big time by offering them a deeply discounted venue rental rate of $1500 for up to seven hours Monday through Thursday. I believe that nonprofits struggle enough with fundraising, and if we can help them by hosting all of their events, then we will hopefully become the preeminent venue for nonprofits in the metro area.”

More information on menus, booking, accommodations and other information related to the venue is available on their website.
