Many states have noteworthy attractions that visitors and residents can’t experience anywhere else, and Denver-based content creator Amanda Bittner thinks Colorado is no exception.

In an interview via email, Bittner recommended five of her favorite experiences to have in locations across the state, and they all happen to involve enjoying the outdoors.

1.       Scenic train rides

Bittner has taken rides on several Colorado trains that offer their passengers a look at the state’s landscapes. Some of her favorites run in Georgetown, Cañon City and back and forth between Moab, Utah and Denver.

“I've done the Georgetown Loop, the Royal Gorge train and the Rocky Mountaineer (a splurge but it's incredible) and loved them all!”

2.       Hiking

Bittner also enjoys getting a closer view of Colorado’s landscapes through hiking. She recommended a couple of hiking locations and trails, one of which is her favorite in the state.

“The Perimeter Trail in Ouray was probably my favorite hike I've done in Colorado so far, and Hanging Lake is pretty amazing too.”

3.       Hot springs

Colorado has many natural hot springs, but there is one that Bittner thinks stands out among them.

“Strawberry Park Hot Springs in Steamboat Springs is 100% worth the trip.”

4.       Concerts at Red Rocks

Bittner greatly appreciates Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison for its live music experience and atmosphere.

“Live music doesn't get much better than this — I think Red Rocks has ruined all other concert venues for me!”

5.       Anything Western

Colorado has elements of Western culture that Bittner said she finds fascinating. She mentioned a few events that sparked her interest and helped her learn more about it.

“I’ve loved learning all about Western culture with experiences like horseback riding on a dude ranch to rodeo nights in Steamboat Springs or at the National Western Stock Show.”
