Amanda Bittner offers glimpses of international experiences through digital creation
June 20, 2024
Content creator Amanda Bittner’s love of new experiences fuels her personal social media work, which she does with one message for her audience in mind: make the most of every moment.
Outside of being a content manager for an education company, Bittner, who has been based in Denver since 2021, runs a travel-focused blog and produces related content for her social media pages.
Bittner has run her blog since 2020, where she shares one-of-a-kind experiences she finds interesting, worth paying for and that other creators do not regularly feature. She also mentioned via email that all of her content focuses on getting the most out of life by having new experiences.
“I've built my personal brand all around embracing experiences, big or small, to live life to the fullest. Whether that's as small as trying a new coffee shop or as big as booking a trip somewhere far away, I try to showcase unique experiences and things to do to squeeze the most out of life,” Bittner said.
Bittner’s journey to becoming a content creator likely started in her childhood; she thinks her aspiration to edit magazines was an indication of her future career.
“When I was little, I wanted to be a magazine editor; I've always loved writing, fun visuals and creativity, and social media has felt like the perfect outlet for me to showcase and share those interests,” Bittner said.
This childhood interest is not the only aspect of Bittner’s life that she thinks informed her personal work and career path. She said a semester studying abroad in Spain during her college years gave her new interests that greatly shaped who she is today.
“I lived with a Spanish host family who didn't speak English and was basically immersed in a completely different culture and way of life for five months. My parents say that I came back a different person. I think that experience is what helped open my eyes to new perspectives and cultures, and it also made me a much more confident and curious person,” Bittner said.
Bittner graduated from college in 2013 and began freelancing in 2015. She said she did not study social media marketing in college but has been continuously finding ways to learn more about it since she started doing it.
“I've invested thousands of dollars in online courses and even did night classes at a community college while working full-time to learn about social media marketing (since I didn't major in this in college). I'm constantly studying new editing tricks, investing in courses and I subscribe to tons of industry newsletters to stay on top of trends,” Bittner said.
Now, Bittner’s blog has an online following she said was built with passion, resilience and dedication. She is proudest of the ways she and other creators have helped people through their work, noting that her favorite videos to create showcase and support lesser-known local businesses.
“I've gotten messages from owners after posting a video that they've had a line out the door, sold out of items, had their biggest sale season, etc., because of some of my viral videos. That kind of impact is what's really powerful and meaningful to me,” she said.
