Earth’s Fate, According to AI

Completed in May of 2023

This photography project, my final for my Intermediate Photography course, puts all the claims made by scientists about the effects of climate change into a more comprehensible visual form. Since humans (thankfully) don’t have a way to see this right now, this project consults the predictive capabilities of AI (Midjourney) to help them out. I have always thought that if I could see the damage it can cause long-term without actually seeing the real thing, then I would become a little more aware of the choices I could and should make to better do my part environmentally.

When I first began this project, I wanted to know: What will the most beautiful places in Colorado Springs look like if climate change keeps progressing like it is now? As I kept working on it, I started wondering: What did Colorado Springs look like in the past compared to now, and how will places and things (elements of those places) around Colorado look in the future after decades of climate change?

All of the real modern photos were taken with a Canon Rebel T7. The historical photos came from the Library of Congress’ website. All of the photos were edited and combined via Photoshop. The original physical photos were printed on Hahnemuhle Metallic Photo Paper, 8.5 x 11.
