When they aren’t planning and hosting an event together or running small businesses, Tianna Hambleton and Toni Mehring enjoy visiting places and finding new experiences that support their interests.

For this week’s entry, they each shared two of their favorite places to visit, which are located across three Colorado cities.

1. Anderson Farms

Mehring said she enjoys Anderson Farms’ summer sunflower fields.

“I know it's not really this time of year, but the sunflowers at Anderson Farms when we go do sunflower picking, I love doing that. That's a local thing that they do every year."

From July to August, visitors can view, get photos in and take a wagon ride to the farm’s 15-acre sunflower field, which their website notes contains several varieties of sunflowers. Visitors can also pick some of the flowers to take home by purchasing one of their containers.

Information about this year’s U-Pick Sunflowers season is not available yet, but more information on this event and everything happening at Anderson Farms can be found on their website as it becomes available.

2. Denver’s thrift stores

Hambleton expressed her appreciation for Denver’s thrift stores.

While she likes finding new places to shop, she especially enjoys frequenting one store: “My favorite is off of 36th and Pecos.” Hambleton said she likes this ARC Thrift Store’s selection of children’s items.

“They have a great kids’ section, which is wonderful. I have a 2-year-old, so it's great to get things on the cheap when she is growing like a weed."

3. SpiritWays

Hambleton shared that she likes to spend time at SpiritWays, a metaphysical shop in Denver.

“I love going in there and looking at their stuff. They used to do… I don't know if they still, it's been a really long time… they have Tarot readers and all of that stuff, so that's a place that I like to go when I have some free time."

According to their website, the 27-year-old shop offers “readings, classes, fine metaphysical products” and products from local artisans. Their online shop features spell kits, essences, oils, candles, incense and more.

More information on SpiritWays’ events, divination pricing and services can be found on their website. Their “Our Shop” page lists ways to contact the shop and their hours of operation.

4.     Echter’s Nursery & Garden Center

Mehring said she frequents Echter’s Nursery & Garden Center, which is open year-round.

“It has a gigantic selection of indoor plants year-round. So, I like to go there just to, of course, buy plants. But I have, like, more than 65, so I can't always do that. But yeah, you just go around and look at all their different varieties of plants. For a while, they had a grapefruit tree with a grapefruit in it. It was so fun to go and look at the grapefruit."

According to their website, Echter’s is an over 40-year-old, family-owned business and the only place that sells the plants they grow; these include trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, houseplants, roses and poinsettias. They sell more than 2,500 varieties of flowers.

More information on Echter’s Nursery & Garden Center, including the plant varieties they offer, contact information and an event calendar, can be found on their website.
