Those who value businesses and organizations that bring enjoyment to their patrons through their services may appreciate Caroline Morales’ recommendations.

In an email interview, Morales, the CEO of Exploration Summit, shared three of her favorite places in Colorado and her appreciation for what they have to offer.

1.     Wesley Owens Coffee & Cafe

Wesley Owens Coffee & Cafe is located in Monument; according to their website, they sell baked goods that are made fresh daily, and they have a full menu of coffee and tea drinks. Morales said she appreciates the cafe’s menu and owners.

“GREAT owners. Very genuine, delicious food and I highly recommend their vanilla chai tea.”

2.     Library 21c's makerspaces

Library 21c, one of the Pikes Peak Library District’s Colorado Springs locations, has reservable spaces full of machines and tools that library cardholders can use for their projects. The PPLD website lists five locations with makerspaces in Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs. Morales said she likes that these spaces give people a chance to work with equipment they might not get to otherwise.

“I am a huge fan of making things, but sometimes investing in a huge new piece of equipment can be intimidating. They have an impressive collection of 3D printers, CNC machines, sewing machines, a recording studio, broadcast equipment, you name it! It is super fun to try out new tools before diving in headfirst.”

3.     Smudge’s Dog House

This dog kennel offers overnight boarding and daycare with minimal personal kennel time, according to their website. Customers can also bring their dogs in for grooming or to use the business’ self-service dog washing stations; Smudge’s Dog House provides all of the supplies needed for washing, including washing tubs made out of detached truck beds.

Morales said that she and her dogs are especially fond of their kennel services.

“I love Smudge’s Dog House. My two puppies, a chihuahua and a pit bull, both LOVE going there for both daycare as well as overnight boarding.”
